Terese Russell is my name

I work as a Laboratory Technician at Aotea Pathology.  I started here nine years ago working in the Specimen Reception department as a data entry operator, after several years doing seasonal jobs in Hastings, where I grew up.

Starting in Specimen Reception was an interesting experience.  My work also involved handling and processing biological samples (inside closed bottles, of course!) which was very different for me -- something I never thought I would ever be doing.

This work intrigued me, and when the position for Laboratory Assistant opened up in the Haematology department, I jumped at the opportunity.

I have been a part of Haematology now for seven years. In this time, I have had the training needed to sit the QTA examination which gained me a position as a Qualified Technician and boosted my confidence.

My Haematology knowledge has increased a lot, and there is still much more to learn.  I have had enormous help from my work colleagues to get me where I am today and I am keen to keep climbing.
