Happy music good for the spirit – and your circulation!
(Inside Aotea, December 2010)
Listening to joyful music might be good for your vascular health, or blood circulation.
Researchers in the United States asked 10 healthy volunteers to play music that made them happy and music that made them sad. The volunteers’ ‘brachial artery flow mediated dilation’ went up after listening to the happy music and down in response to the sad music.
The increase associated with happy music was of a size seen in aerobic activity.
