Mama mia! Heart disease is found in ancient Egyptians

Heart disease and stroke are thought to be mainly modern diseases of the West, but the ancient Egyptians may have experienced them too.

A reported study of 20 mummies found nine with calcified arteries. These Egyptians would have been of high socioeconomic class and, rather than chips, chocolate and burgers, would more likely have indulged on cattle, ducks and geese.
