Patient-requested testing

We encourage people to take care of their health and actively manage it. To help with this, we offer a range of tests that don't need the approval of a registered medical practitioner.

Simply visit any Aotea Pathology collection room that has payment facilities to have a blood sample taken for testing.

• We'll ask for proof of your identity and your address and contact phone number.
• We'll post results to your address, or you can collect them from our laboratory at 89 Courtenay Place, Wellington.
• Payment is required for all self-requested tests.

Talk with your doctor first

Selecting the appropriate test and interpreting results is best done by qualified medical practitioners and as part of a proper medical assessment.

Our laboratory testing uses validated methods and accredited processing systems but we do not provide clinical advice on self-requested test selection or interpretation.

Always seek the advice of a doctor for this. A doctor who knows you can work with you to determine your health status and the tests you need.
